Bisibelabath powder by Sandhya

Bisibelabath powder


1 tsp heaped Urad dal
2 tsp heaped Channa Dal
2 ½ tsp. Corriander Seeds
½ tsp Cumin Seeds
10 Red Chillies (can be adjusted based on spice level and color desired)
5 cloves
¼ a stick ( 4 1inch pieces) Cinnamon piece
Cardamom (Elaichi) - 2
venthyam (Methi Seeds) - ½ tsp
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
5 tsp Grated Dry Coconut
A pinch of nutmeg or Marathi Moggu ( star anise) (optional)

In a tsp. of oil, fry all the ingredients (a-j , except for the dry coconut) for the Bisi Bele bhath powder to a golden brown colour.
Add the grated dry coconut, fry for a minute.Cool the mixture.
Powder the mixture to a fine powder.Store in an air tight container for long term usage.
