Tofu Tikka Masala by Vidhya Jaiganesh

Tofu Tikka Masala

Ingredients

Tofu-1 block
Onions-1
Tomato-2
Green/red/yellow bell pepper-1no cut into medium chunks

Curd-2tbsp(thick)
Lime juice-1 tbsp
Chilli powder-2 tbsp
Jeera-1 tsp
Cumin-coriander powder-1tbsp each
Kasoori methi-1tbsp crushed
Oil-2-3tbsp
APF-2Tbsp
GG PASTE-1Tbsp
Salt-as required
water-as reqd
Coriander leaves chopped -2tbsp for garnishing

Marinate
1.Cut the tofu into blocks or cubes
2.In a bowl add curd,kasoori methi,chilli powder,lime juice,salt n mix well.
3.To this add the tofu,2 tbsp of onion cut into big chunks n bell pepper.
4.Mix well so that the curd mixture coats the veggies n tofu well,set aside for 10-20 mins

Masala
1.In a deep pan add oil and when hot add jeera.
2.After jeera splutters add the onions and saute well.
3.When the onion cooks add GGPASTE .Add the APF afte the raw smell of GG paste is gone and saute it to clear lumps
4.To this add turmer/chilli/cor-cumin powder saute and the add tomato puree
5.Add water as per the amount of gravy required as tofu when added will make this sauce thicker
6.Bring to a boil and add water to keep the consistency.
7.Now take a tawa/nonstick pan(I took both-cooked veggies in tawa n tofu in non stick,veggies had a smoked flavour n made the entire masala aromatic)
8.Spinkle little oil and cook on both sides till tofu turns little brown and veggies are cooked.
9.Add this to the gravy and let it cook in medium flame for 5 mins.
10.Garnish with coriander and a tsp of lime juice(otional)

Note
You can add tomatoes chopped into big chunks to the tofu when marinating but make sure they are not too ripe as the water in the tomatoes tend to make the grilling very watery
