Yen Style Sambar for Idli- Dosa by Priya Darshini

Ingredients :

Toor dal - 1/2 glass, 100 gms
Tomato - 1 big,
Onion - 1 big yellow sliced thinly
Dry Red chilly - 2- 3
Sambar powder - 2 tsp
Red chilly powder - To taste
Turmeric pwdr - pinch
Salt - to taste
Oil - 1 tbsp
Perungayam - 1 big pinch
Thick Tamarind water - Made with 1 lemon size tamaring piece. Depends on the brand u use.
Mustard - 1/4 tsp
Coriander, Curry leaves - few

Method :

1. Cook dal along with whole tomato, turmeric powder and mash wit well after done.
2. Take oil in kadai, add mustard. Once it starts popping, add dry red chilly & hing. Break red chilly n put if u like it spicy.
3. Now add onion. Saute till it is light brown.
4. Add dal to this and mix well. Add salt and tamarind water, mix well. Add water depending upon consistency u want.
5. After it starts boiling , u can see that froth on top. Now add sambar pwdr and add red chilly pwdr if u want.
6. Garnish with Coriander & curry leaves.
7. Serve with Idli & Dosa.
